Hello and Welcome
How I work and how I can help?
My therapeutic work is grounded in person-centred therapy, creating a relationship that is warm, collaborative and non-judgemental.
Alongside this foundation, I work integratively, drawing from a range of approaches including:

-
Gestalt therapy
-
Psychodynamic therapy
-
Creative and reflecive approaches
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
This allows the work to be flexible and responsive, shaped around you as an individual rather than fitting you into a single model or way of working.

What makes my work distinctive?
What particularly shapes my practice is the integration of professional training with lived experience. Alongside my academic and therapeutic background, I have many years of experience as a carer within the contexts of disability and neurodiversity. This means I bring a deep understanding of long-term responsibility, complexity, and the ways life can feel when there is little space to pause or be heard.

As a result, my work is especially attuned to:
-
the impact of long-term stress, caregiving, and sustained pressure
-
experiences of loss, overwhelm, and identity change
-
working thoughtfully with neurodiversity and disability, while remaining open and inclusive of all life experiences
Clients often tell me they value the way I can hold depth without heaviness, and support exploration without rushing to solutions.
My practice is also:
-
Trauma-informed
-
Relational and reflective
-
Grounded in evidence, but led by live reality
-
Respectful of difference, pace, and personal meaning

Counselling and/ or coaching

I work with both counselling and coaching, and many clients experience this as a natural and helpful blend.
-
Counselling offers space to explore feelings, experiences, and past influences with compassion and care.
-
Coaching supports insight, direction, confidence, and practical change.
Together, they allow you to both understand and become — gaining clarity about who you are, while also moving towards how you want to live.
Together, they allow you to both understand and become.
Our work together may involve:
-
talking therapy
-
reflective exploration
-
emotional processing
-
creative or practical tools
-
goal clarification
-
identity and life review
Sessions are always shaped around your needs, your pace, and your goals. I work collaboratively, checking in with you as the work unfolds, and adapting our approach as your understanding and priorities evolve.

A reflective, integrative approach that brings together professional expertise, lived experience, and deep respect for your individual journey.

My story
My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience.
For many years, I have worked alongside people navigating complexity — as a researcher, therapist-in-training, coach, educator, and long-term carer. Much of my life has been spent supporting others through challenge, uncertainty, responsibility, and change, while also learning how to listen carefully to what is happening beneath the surface.
Alongside my professional roles, I am a parent and carer to neurodivergent and learning-disabled family members. This experience has profoundly influenced how I understand resilience, identity, and what it means to live a meaningful life under sustained pressure. It has also taught me that growth rarely comes from quick fixes or neat answers, but from being met with understanding, respect, and patience.
Academically, my background is in psychology, medical research, and counselling, with many years of experience in research, teaching, and reflective practice. I value learning deeply and remain curious about how people make sense of their experiences, particularly when life does not follow expected paths. My work is informed by evidence and theory, but always grounded in the realities of everyday life.
What brings these strands together is a belief that change begins quietly — through reflection, relationship, and awareness — before it shows itself in how we meet the world. Whether I am working with individuals, groups, or organisations, I aim to create a space that feels thoughtful, inclusive, and safe enough for honest exploration.
I am particularly drawn to work that honours lived experience, supports personal growth, and recognises the importance of family, community, and connection to the wider world — including nature and place. I believe that people already carry much of what they need within them, and that the role of counselling, coaching, or training is often to help make space for that to emerge.
